Get Involved with your Alma Mater!The alumni association is seeking alums interested in getting involved and giving back to their alma mater. The Alumni Association has several opportunities for alums to get involved. Here are a few ways:
1. Fundraising Committee We are looking for a 3-4 volunteers to be apart of the Fundraising Committee. The fundraising committee's sole responsibility is to work with the VP of Fundraising on creating, managing and executing fundraising and membership initiatives and events to support the Alumni Association's programs and scholarship fund .If interested please fill out the form below. 2. Scholarship Committee We are looking for 6-8 volunteers to join our scholarship committee. The scholarship committee reviews and selects the scholarship recipients for the annual scholarships presented to graduating seniors, current students and alumni each June. The committee will begin its meetings via conference call in Spring 2012 and the process will culminate in Late May. A maximum of 2-3 conference calls will occur and an overall time commitment of about 5-6 hours. If interested in joining the committee, please fill out the form below. SECRETARY- The Secretary is responsible for recording and maintaining monthly minutes, as well as preparing the meeting agendas, sending out monthly meeting notices, updating the membership records and serving as the official records keeper for the organization. An Evening with Josh Groban-June 28thWe are proud to announce a spectacular event for our school, An Evening with Josh Groban! Presented by the Arts High Foundation, this benefit concert for LACHSA features one of the most celebrated artists in music today at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Thursday June 28th at 8:00 p.m.
Several years in the making, An Evening with Josh Groban, promises to be one of the highlights in a long list of successful events. More importantly, and with your support, this concert event will raise funds to support the operation of LACHSA. We are looking for LACHSA Alums! On February 1st 2012, LACHSA Principal, George Simpson announced the appointment of Nailah Conncer as LACHSA's first-ever alumni relations coordinator. In this new position, Nailah will be will responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and future alumni with specific attention to our alumni database and supporting alumni initiatives and events. She will also serve as a liaison with the LACSHA Alumni Association.
Nailah Conner is a 2005 LACHSA Honors graduate. In her senior year she was awarded the Adam Schulman memorial scholarship in addition to two scholarships from Boston University (BU) where she studied as a cello-performance major. During her first year at BU Nailah was invited to play in the BU Symphony's concert at Carnegie Hall. In the fall semester of her junior year, she decided to travel abroad and studied with Amanda Truelove at the Royal College of Music in London, England. During her time there she served as Assistant Principal cellist in the Royal College's 250th Anniversary Concert. Nailah graduated from Boston University in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Music degree, Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the American Federation of Musicians as well as the Screen Actors Guild. Currently, Nailah performs in various orchestras in Los Angeles County and teaches cello to elementary students through the SAPPA Music Program. Most recently, and with much excitement, Nailah has returned to her alma mater! She's ready to help enrich the lives of LACHSA's alumni and current students by connecting them into one solid community. Please join us in welcoming Nailah to this exciting position and provide her with your continued support during her transition to LACHSA. |
